See the program page. We also offer custom field research services and AgLink software.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is S&F Agritech BioPerformance?
S&F Agritech BioPerformance is our umbrella for category-specific commercial product evaluation programs. Each program has its own eligibility, protocols, scope and pricing. The first, and currently the only open program, is the 2027 Kelp & Seaweed Large Acre Trial Program in corn.
What does the 2027 Kelp & Seaweed program test?
Whether a proposed kelp or seaweed application program improves crop performance and net return relative to grower standard practice in corn, in the Midwest and Southeast. Each location compares at least 40 usable harvest acres of grower standard plus the product with 40 comparable grower-standard acres. We recommend five locations on five farms per product and crop.
Is the kelp program replicated?
No. The base design is a non-replicated within-field comparison. Five-location summaries show average, median, range and consistency, but they do not guarantee statistical power or predict performance elsewhere. If your question needs replicated plots, we can scope that separately as a custom service.
What crops does the 2027 program cover?
Corn only. Soybeans, wheat, cotton and other crops are planned for later years and are not part of the 2027 program. Other crops can be discussed as a separately scoped custom project.
How much does the kelp program cost?
$3,600 per location for 1 to 2 locations, $3,350 per location for 3 to 9, and a custom quote for 10 or more. A five-location study is $16,750 before optional work and any agreed additional charges. Payment is 50% at contracting and 50% at final reporting.
Are negative results reported?
Yes. Positive, neutral and negative outcomes are all retained. Conclusions are specific to the tested product program and the environments in the study.
Can these studies support product registration?
Registration data requirements depend on the product, the claim and the jurisdiction. The kelp program is a commercial performance and economics evaluation, not a registration package. If you have a specific regulatory question, we can talk through whether a custom project fits.
What other services do you offer?
Custom on-farm comparisons, scoped replicated small-plot research, research coordination with university and other partners, and trial data and reporting tools. These are scoped and priced per project and are separate from the 2027 corn program.
What is AgLink?
AgLink is our software. S&F AgLink Intelligence helps you find relevant ag companies, inspect dated supporting evidence and prepare notes for business conversations. S&F AgLink Regulatory supports U.S. EPA pesticide research with source citations you can open and check.
Where are you based?
Raleigh, NC. The 2027 kelp program runs in the Midwest and Southeast; custom work is scoped by location.
